Carmella Van Vleet

Carmella is a former Kindergarten teacher who’s been writing full-time for the last eleven years. Her freelance work has appeared in magazines such as Highlights, Parenting and Scholastic Instructor. She’s also the author of ten, non-fiction books for adults and children including Great Ancient Egypt Projects You Can Build Yourself (Nomad Press, 2006) and the forthcoming Discover the Seven Wonders of the World.

She recently decided to switch gears to MG and YA because those are the genres she likes to read the most. In fact, she loves these kind of books so much she’s even been known to strikes up passionate conversations with kids about the books in their hands. (But only after she makes sure parents are around, of course!)

Carmella lives in Columbus, OH with her high-school-sweetheart-turned-husband and their three kids. When she’s not reading, baking or searching for a PEZ she doesn’t already own, she’s making plans to visit the places she’d like to go. (Up next, Alaska!)
